Isabella Apartments – Concord

The Architects designed a mixed-use building in downtown Concord, NH, carefully sited on a tight urban lot. The project includes 68 apartments, underground parking, a commercial space, a pool, and outdoor gathering areas. With a focus on sustainability, the building was designed to be highly energy efficient while maximizing amenities within the constraints of its compact footprint.

To make way for the new five-story structure, a 1950s-era building was removed from the site. The development incorporates a mix of studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, some featuring private balconies. Amenity spaces include an outdoor swimming pool with pavilion and patio areas. One of the project’s primary challenges was navigating the site’s slope, with Main Street at street level, to State Street on first floor level, and access to the under-building parking from the side on Fayette Street.

The building design features a brick base with Hardie panels in varying colors and reveals to articulate the form and break down the scale within its urban context.
