YMCA Allard Center – Goffstown
The Architects have provided continued design and planning services to the Greater Manchester YMCA for the Allard Center in Goffstown, New Hampshire. Beginning with program and priority planning, the design for the Family Locker Room was begun in 2005 with the work completed over the summer of 2006. Based on master planning provided by The Architects the next phase of work began in 2007 with the renovation of 14,400sf of existing Gymnastics/Program space and 5,600sf lower level skateboard park into new uses: Gymnastics facility, Multipurpose wood floor Gymnasium, Climbing Gym, and Fitness, Free weight, and Spinning areas. To provide for the Gymnastic functions entry, building accessibility, and a new Aerobics/Dance Studio, a 4,200 sf addition was designed to flow from the east side of the existing 62,712sf building. The addition steps along the grade responding to the existing ledge and yet provides access to the previously underused lower level opening it up to new fitness and free weight functions. Also as part of this phase the existing main entry, reception services, and child watch programs have been expanded and renovated. Working within the Construction Manager project delivery system The Architects worked creatively and imaginatively with the Owners and Langley Construction Inc. to provide cost effective solutions to meet the growing program needs of the YMCA. Project was completed November 2007.
