Working with Eckman Construction in a design-build process, the project involved inserting a new floor in the large volume of the existing Cafeteria to provide a conference space that can seat 280 people. Required storage space was provided, handicapped bathrooms, and separate circulation was managed through the building to the existing Pub below. The design challenges were to create a new conference entrance from the Campus and to maximize the benefit of windows from both the Cafe below and the new conference space overlooking the Lake with a logical form. The project was successfully completed Fall 2006.
