Working with a Design Build Contractor, The Architects developed alternative schemes to maximize the Head Start program on this small urban site. This brownfield site was obtained through a land swap with the City. In addition to having to be re-mediated, the soil condition of the site required a 40 foot deep pile foundation. An 8,600sf two-story scheme was approved. The approved form was compatible with the two and three story neighborhood while providing articulation and fenestration for its users to make it a lively and identifiable place. Construction was completed in January 2005.
