The Architects were selected to assist this international company to fit up approximately 5,000sf in the Langer Mill in Manchester’s Millyard. Private offices were developed along the perimeter with large borrowed lights and glazed doors to share light with the interior space and provide a feeling of transparency. In addition, the walls were held well below the beams and the area above the walls was glazed. This not only provided more interior light with sound control, but let the timber ceiling read through so the offices feel like low partitions in a larger space. Direct/indirect lighting and crisp detailing provide a clean contemporary look in the mill shell with exposed brick walls, wood floors, heavy timber frame and wood ceiling.
